In a video captioned “I ain’t gon’ lie, I’m gettin’ COOKED!” actress Keke Palmer described how hard it’s been being a new mother and gave a touching shoutout to those who are going it alone.
Palmer welcomed her first child, a baby boy, on Feb. 25 with boyfriend Darius Jackson. While the “Nope” star has only been a mother for about two weeks, she took to Instagram to post a heartfelt tribute to all the single parents out there.
“If you’re single parent, pull out your cape,” Palmer said. “As a matter of fact, clip off your angel wings, because I don’t know how you do it.”
Palmer notes that while there are a million reasons why someone might be a single parent, she now understands how difficult it must be.
“When it comes to raising a kid, I’ve already learned in these short few days that it takes a village. Sometimes that’s a privilege.”
While adjusting to motherhood, Palmer is still very active. She’s set to release a documentary titled “Big Boss,” that follows her journey as a child pursing a career in music.
The documentary is described as a “collection of different vibes” and was first teased in July 2022 during a Vogue interview.
“Being different is one thing, feeling lonely is another. We all have our hurdles, but this one, I’m done with. I don’t need to be accepted by the cool kids or the elite. I just need to be accepted by me.” Palmer said.
While fans love that the triple threat is directing and acting, they can’t help but want more music. Palmer’s last album, “Virgo Tendencies II,” was released in 2020. She did hint in the Vogue interview that she will be releasing a new album soon — and that it will also be titled “Big Boss.”
“Big Boss” (the documentary) is Palmer’s directorial debut and is set to release in March 2023.
