March 27, 2022, is a date embedded in many brains as the most iconic Oscars ceremony in history.

Not because it was the first time the academy signed off on three women hosting or because Quest Love gave an amazing, mic-dropping speech, but because Will Smith smacked Chris Rock.

As the room — and everyone watching at home — watched in shock and silence, the most painful silence fell on Will’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith as the world waited for her to speak up about the events of that night. Two months later, she’s ready to talk about it.

On Wednesday’s episode of Red Table Talk titled ‘Alopecia: The Devastating Impact’, Smith told viewers that she’s using this platform to give the “alopecia family” an opportunity to talk about their condition. At the start of the episode, Pinkett addressed the slap watched ‘round the world.

“My deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile. The state of the world today, we need them both,” said Smith.

The Mayo Clinic defines Alopecia as a condition that causes hair loss on the scalp or the entire body. Jada has struggled with Alopecia since 2018 and revealed her diagnosis with the autoimmune disease on the Red Table Talk.

2.5 million people are living with Alopecia today. Guests who spoke in the episode shared that the effects of Alopecia are not only physical; the loss of hair also has an emotional and mental component. Many sufferers go through a long process of trying creams and even painful injections to combat the disease.

The Smith’s marriage has been a topic of conversation since R&B singer August Alsina revealed his relationship with Jada during an interview in 2020 — leaving the Smiths open to ridicule, speculation and hurtful jokes.

Will Smith has remained silent on social media since resigning from the academy and posting an apology on his Instagram on March 28, leaving, many wondering how the the pair is doing.

“Will and I are continuing to do what we’ve done for the past 28 years and that’s figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for listening” said Jada
