Anita Baker has had enough of the bullying and cyber threats from Babyface fans.

When the Grammy Award-winning songstress announced that Babyface would join her on the last leg of her North American tour, many in the R&B community were thrilled to see two legends take the stage. But Babyface fans weren’t pleased to see their idol described as a “support act” and soon began harassing Baker online.

Baker took to Twitter to share the difference between an opening act and a support act, tweeting:

“Dearest one. You are Not, privy to *The Contracts*. Yes, Babyface is Special Guest/Support Act, on My Tour,” she said. “This False Narrative, of A Co-headliner is creating Unrealistic Expectations & Aggression, from his fans towards me. He should tell you guys, the Truth.”

In response, Babyface fans called Baker “mean” and “unprofessional,” and demanded she “take responsibility for her actions.”

Now, Baker has announced that she will be pulling Babyface from the tour due to “personal safety” reasons.

“After Silently, Enduring Cyber Bulling/Verbal Abuse & Threats of Violence from the Fan Base, of Our Special Guest/Support Act. In the Interest of Personal Safety. I will continue, The Songstress Tour, alone. Appropriate refunds will be made. Blessings ABXO,” she wrote.

In response to news, Babyface took to Instagram to share his disappointment.

“It’s unfortunate and disheartening to see how things have played out via social media,” Babyface said. “While I was looking forward to the rest of the dates, I have nothing but love & respect for Anita and I wish her the best for the remainder of her tour.”
