Her newest single isn’t the only thing that’s “Up” with Cardi B this year.
According to a recent Instagram post, the Grammy winner is set to add a new title to her resume: hair care entrepreneur.
The rapper, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, announced on Instagram Monday that she plans to launch the business later this year.
“This year I will be coming out with a hairline that I been working on at home for my hair and my daughter’s,” she said in part.
Cardi’s post came after a series of tweets that discussed the different features of people who are Hispanic and Latino.
“Being Hispanic/Latina don’t make your hair long, don’t make your skin light or don’t make your face features slim ‘specially Latin countries from the Caribbean islands,” the former “Love & Hip Hop: New York” star continued.
Cardi, who lives in the Atlanta area with her daughter and husband, fellow rapper and Migos member Offset, has long discussed her ethnicity as well as her hair. It’s her locks that have captivated fans online in recent months.
She didn’t go into specifics about what her hair care line will include, but Cardi has shared her hair regimen online before.
On Instagram last year, she shared the DIY hair masks she uses on herself and her 2-year-old daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus.
In June, the mix included a blend of avocado, argan oil, mayonnaise, castor oil, olive oil, eggs, honey and banana
“It’s just a good hair mask to help your hair grow. All the good things that you put in your body, you got to put in your hair,” People magazine reported she said on her Instagram story at the time.
By November, Cardi shared another mask with natural ingredients. This time, there were only five components: avocado, egg, a generous spoonful of honey, castor oil, and a hefty scoop of coconut oil. Allure magazine reported the star once again shared the concoction on her Instagram Story and told fans that it needed to be blended as “smooth as possible.”
Although Cardi has attributed her hair growth to her masks, experts say the thing that largely dictates hair growth is genetics.
Cardi’s plans to join the celebrity hair care club will put her among the likes of Tracee Ellis Ross, Gabrielle Union and Taraji P. Henson. The actresses have each launched hair care companies Pattern Beauty, Flawless and TPH by Taraji respectively.
