Disney+ continues to generate original content by mining classics from the company’s past. This time, they’re bringing back an iconic couple: Cinderella and Prince Charming from the 1997 film version of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella.”

It’s been over 25 years since “Cinderella” fans last saw Brandy and Paolo Montalban together, and their latest adventure will unite multiple generations with a whimsical new story line. The new film will be an addition to Disney’s “Descendants” franchise which introduces a new but familiar location, Wonderland.

Disney+ took to social media to share details on the new project, “Disney Descendants: Rise of Red.” But it was the sight of two familiar faces that left everyone on Twitter and Instagram feeling 90s nostalgia.

In their new reprised roles, the pair will once again play their iconic characters. Now though, the focus is on the couple’s perfectionist daughter Chloe and Red, the rebellious daughter of the Queen of Hearts.

The 1997 film broke barriers with Brandy becoming the first Black princess in a Disney production, A star-studded cast — including Victor Garber and Whoopi Goldberg — was vibrant with diversity. The movie garnered a record-breaking 60 million views for the Disney network and won an Emmy in 1998.

“I knew that this was so great for the world to see, especially Black people,” Brandy told ABC News. “She represented a culture that is beautiful, and I just so appreciated that because that was so much a part of what I wanted to bring to Cinderella.”
