Mattel has revealed its new Tina Turner doll, the latest in its Music Series collection.

Dressed in a classic black mini dress, a jean jacket and iconic Tina Turner hair, the new Barbie embodies the rock goddess in her truest form.

“We used a lot of screen grabs to see the hair at all angles,” designer Bill Greening told Variety “Lots of teasing and hairspray was involved!”

In celebration of “What’s Love Got to do With It?” which was released in 1984 and quickly climbed to Billboard’s top spot, Mattel wanted to create the doll to honor Tina for her solo musical accolades and personal achievements.

“Simply the best. 🎤 Barbie is proud to honor the unmatched career of the ‘Queen of Rock ‘n Roll’” said Barbie in an Instagram post.

“What’s Love Got to do With It?” quickly became an anthem for those struggling to find love in difficult circumstances. The song took home three Grammy Awards and inspired the 1993 Turner biopic starring Angela Bassett (who won a Golden Globe and NAACP Award for her performance).

The “Queen of Rock n’ Roll” is the fifth artist to be included in the Music Series collection. Other artists in the series include Gloria Estefan, David Bowie and Elvis Presley.

“I am honored to welcome my Barbie into the group of trailblazing women already represented and introduce more kids to my journey,” Turner said in a statement.

Fans can purchase the Barbie signature music series Tina Turner doll at mattel.com and other retailers.
