A Georgia auction house will be selling items from the home of disgraced former attorney Alex Murdaugh, 54, on Thursday, Fox Carolina reports. Liberty Auction will host the sale at 4 p.m. on March 23 in Pembroke, Georgia.
This week, the auction house revealed photos of some of the items to be sold, including a set of living room furniture, and numerous vehicles.
Murdaugh was convicted of the murders of his wife Maggie and son Paul, as well as two counts of possession of a weapon during a crime. A South Carolina jury reached its verdict after less than three hours of deliberation. The murder and subsequent trial of the high-profile lawyer captured the nation’s attention.
Murdaugh told the judge that he was innocent and “would never hurt” his wife and son before being sentenced to life in prison. Murdaugh still faces a separate trial for more than 100 financial crimes ranging from fraud to money laundering.
During the murder trial, prosecutors argued that Murdaugh had killed Paul and Maggie to buy himself time and sympathy after fearing that his financial crimes were about to be revealed.
Murdaugh allegedly stole rom his law firm and clients for years. Utilizing his knowledge of criminal law, Murdaugh organized a “clever plan” to have his wife and son present on the family’s Colleton County property on the night of the murders.
Maggie, 52, was shot four or five times with a rifle, and Paul, 22, was shot twice with a shotgun.
