Bargain hunting brides and their helpers wait in line as they gear up for one of the most popular wedding dress sales in the country, the annual Running of the Brides at Filene's Basement Friday.

Boh Ying Leong of Tucker holds one of two self-made art board with her size and design while waiting in line since 5:30 a.m. Friday. Leong said she has eight helpers all came with pink t-shirts and her wedding is in October of this year. Next to her is Pek Suan, one of her helpers.

Joanna Rodriguez of Marietta with help from her mother Alicia, puts on a designer gown ($700) gown about 20 minutes before the doors were opened. "I like it, " she said. "This is the dress." Rodriguez is a producer for a local radio station that was airing the event live.

Joy Arnold, left, and Mireille Melton get to look for gowns half-hour before doors open because they won a local radio contest. Melton said she found her dress here at this event two years ago and Arnold found it for her. Arnold has a total of 11 helpers and all came from North Carolina. They camped out since 5 p.m. Thursday.

8:00 a.m.: And they're off! The door opens as bargain hunting brides and their helpers dash for the racks.

8:01 a.m.: The first brides and helpers get to the racks and grab handfuls of gowns.

8:02 a.m.: The rush goes into full swing, as piles of dresses get yanked from the racks.

8:03 a.m.: The racks are almost completely empty. Now the trading begins.

Justin McCauley lends a helping hand to his best friend. "We have two we like, " said McCauley of Douglasville.

Nadine Harris, left, helps her daughter Roshunda Harris while she goes through a pile of designer gowns. Harris said her wedding is in October of this year.

Cassie Mitchell of Tallahassee, Fla., is all smiles as she finds her gown after 2 1/2 hours of trying over 25 designer wedding gowns. This gown is $250. She and her nine helpers waited in line since midnight.

Terrence Paton of Atlanta takes a break while his uncle continues to look for a gown for his bride to be. Paton said he's the best man and the wedding is in August.
