If you know anything about cat cafes, you know that they are places to sip a magical cup of coffee - surrounded by the fierce and fabulous.

You might even end up adopting one. What you might not know is that the first cat cafe opened in 1998 in Taipei, Taiwan. They have since popped up all over the world and a second one just opened here in Atlanta.

Java Cats Cafe

Java Cats Cafe, Atlanta's first cat cafe, opened in March 2017, with a second location added in Marietta in 2018. Patrons can sip on coffee from Ebrik Coffee or eat a light bite while spending some time with a cuddly, four-legged friend. Reservations highly recommended.

Happy Tabby Cat Cafe

Cat lovers now have another place in Atlanta to sip coffee, pet kitties, and, if they'd like, give one lucky feline a forever home.

Pounce Cat Cafe + Wine Bar

Pounce Cat Cafe + Wine Bar is a place where you can hang out in a living room setting roamed by adoptable cats, sip on boozy beverages and indulge in delicious pastries.

Le Cat Cafe

Owner Kathy Jordan said the idea behind Le Cat Cafe is simple: Cats roam freely in an environment where they feel comfortable, while customers can sip coffee, tea or hot chocolate - all provided free by Jordan - and mingle with the cats of Green Street Rescue.

Cat Town Cafe

Founded by cat lovers Adam Myatt and Ann Dunn, Cat Town Cafe became the first permanent cat cafe in the U.S., when it opened in 2014.

Puringtons Cat Lounge

Portlanders love their cat cafe, and - lucky for cat lovers - reservations are not hard to get.

Denver Cat Company

Denver's only cat cafe features cats from Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue; all cats are up for adoption. Entry into the cafe is free during the week, and $5 on the weekends. Reservations are not accepted.

Eat, Purr, Love Cat Cafe

If you enjoy bakery sweets, great coffee and the friendliest cats in town, Eat, Purr, Love is for you. Reservations are suggested, but walk-ins can sometimes be accommodated. The $10/hour "Cat Lounge" fee helps cover the cost of caring for the feline foster family members.
