The AJC Peachtree Road Race is one of the few times of year Atlanta residents don’t have to worry when they see a group of people in costumes running down the street.

Peachtree runners wear funny or profound or clever outfits every year, and 2018 was no exception. AJC reporters at the race snapped pictures of some of the best they spotted.

First, there were funny costumes.

Maureen Lovett of Chamblee has been running the Peachtree Road Race for 23 years. Her daughter, 30-year-old Erin Lovett started running with her in 2001. Now, every year the Lovett family and their friends dress up in theme for the race. Last year, they were Power Rangers. This year, characters from Star Wars.

Atlanta natives Debbie Shelton, Juliet Richard, Teresa Musso and Tammi Duncan along with Darcy Leblanc from Orlando have been running the Peachtree Road Race together for 5 years. The women met through playing tennis.
