When industry titan ClubCorp purchased Newnan-based Sequoia Golf, the golf industry consolidated in Atlanta - especially for the north metro region - and the era of public golf in the city shifted back towards privatization. Bill Houck, general manager at Brookfield Country Club in Roswell, a 2015 ClubCorp acquisition, said "there really isn't a lot of pay to play public golf left in the city. People are coming back to the private model. The folks who've been enjoying access to semiprivate golf might find less out there in the coming months."
