Dating in Atlanta offers a lot of destination options, but it's human nature to get into a rut with your choices. A nice meal and a movie are fun, but you'll also want to expand your ideas beyond the traditional dinner date or "Netflix and chill."

Next time you're planning a date, try one of these six creative date ideas in Atlanta:

Escape rooms

Escape rooms let you work together to solve puzzles and challenges in order to get out of a locked room. Many come in fun themes, such as a 1980s-era rec room at Escape the Room or a Las Vegas room at Rush Escape Room in Norcross. As a bonus, you'll get a glimpse into what it's like to work with your partner to accomplish a task. Is he or she a little too bossy, or do you make a good team? Wine tastings and classes

Try a wine tasting together, or join a class that offers tastings at a shop such as Wine ShoeVino Venue in Dunwoody also hosts a wine and cooking school as well as casual bar tastings along with some light bites. If you're on a more spur-of-the-moment date, you can use an ENO machine any time Vino Venue is open to select wines and customize a personalized flight and detailed tasting notes. For even more inside knowledge, you can also see how wine is made at various locations, including a tour of City Winery.

Zipline tour

Spend the afternoon taking in an aerial view of the Chattahoochee Nature Center's ecosystem as you and your date zip over a pond and traverse suspension bridges. Screaming Eagle Aerial Adventures has several zipline packages at the Nature Center that each take about an hour to an hour-and-a-half to complete. And if you're not ready for the date to end, you can spend some more time together strolling around the Nature Center.

Horseback riding

Whether you and your date are novices or experienced riders — or one of each — you can hit the trails for a fun date in metro Atlanta. Ride in a beautiful setting along the shores of the lake at Margaritaville Lanier Islands in Buford, or saddle up at Georgia Frontiers in Canton. Georgia Frontiers also offers private guided rides if you or your date needs a little more help or instruction.

Sunrise or sunset hikes, walks or runs

Metro Atlanta has some gorgeous natural areas perfect for a date hike that lets you enjoy a sunrise or sunset together. Pick the option that best suits your schedules as well as your early-bird or night-owl tendencies. AtlantaTrails.com has several recommended sunrise or sunset hikes to choose from, including the Stone Mountain Walk-Up Trail or Panola Mountain guided sunset hike. Pack a picnic and start your day or wrap up your evening with some special time in a beautiful setting.

Arts classes

If the famous pottery-making scene in the movie "Ghost" is your idea of romance, schedule a two-person private pottery class at MudFire studio. Afterward, you'll get to come back to the studio and pick up what you made. Or for a different type of art, try your hand at glassblowing at Decatur Glassblowing. You'll be able to enjoy a two-person private session that lasts an hour. Most students can create a flower each during this class.
