Free Comic Book Day: Where to get your geek on in Atlanta

A History of Comic Books

Metro Atlanta comic fans can get their geek on this Saturday, May 5.

Free Comic Book Day is celebrated first Saturday in May, and many Atlanta area shops are participating.

Fifty titles will be available, and each shop will have a selection. Comics include "Infinity Watch/Spider Man," "Star Wars Adventures" and "Pokémon: Sun and Moon/Pokémon: Horizon." The designated comics are free, but shops usually limit how many each customer can take to help ensure a good supply.

Some shops separate titles into adult and kid-friendly selections, but if you're taking a young child to score a few free comics, you'll want to make sure that they're choosing age-appropriate titles.

Many stores in the metro Atlanta area are participating in Free Comic Book Day, and some are also holding special events. Cosplay is also encouraged.

In addition to comic book shops, a variety of Lawrenceville Square businesses will be giving out some of the free comics from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Check here for a list of stores, titles and special deals.
