Usually, being “full of hot air” is not a good thing.

When that hot air is contained in a colorful, glowing balloon, however, it’s a great thing.

Those hot air balloons will be in Piedmont Park and available for rides next week. The  Atlanta Balloon Glow begins Thursday, August 1, and runs through Sunday, August 4.

Admission to the event is free, but rides must be purchased in advance through Eventbrite. Even if you don't get to be in the baskets you can enjoy the spectacle of glowing balloons in the meadow and the sky. There will also be food, crafts and activities for the entire family.

The fun begins rain or shine at 5 p.m. each evening at 1215 Piedmont Ave. NE, Atlanta, GA 30309. Balloon rides will be conditional based on the weather, however.

Feel free to bring picnic blankets and chairs, but coolers are not permitted.
