Atlanta tries for world’s largest water balloon fight

Some 3,000 people tried break the world's largest water balloon fight record Saturday at Masquerade Music Park.

Thousands gathered Saturday at Masquerade Music Park in Atlanta to try to break the world's largest water balloon fight record.

99X DJ Lewis Alston readies the crowd for the fight.

Balloons begin to sail and the fight is on!

Participants begin to cross the center line as the water balloon fight begins.

Some crowd members jumped into the muddy middle section of the field.

Even youngsters got in on the action. The $5 admission fee went to nonprofit Camp Twin Lakes.

John Fink, 17, of Cumming, took advantage to the mud pit that formed afterward for a fun slide.

A soaked Lewis Alston stood in the line of fire during the barrage of water.

A grimy Justin Hill, 27, of Atlanta, rinses off mud that followed the watery fight.

Some 15,000 balloons were used Saturday. The event benefitted Camp Twin Lakes, a year-round facility in Rutledge that offers therapeutic and educational programs for children facing serious illnesses and challenges.
