Tyler Perry is paying for the funeral of Rayshard Brooks, a 27-year-old man who was shot and killed in a Wendy’s parking lot Friday night.
Brooks was in the Southside and an investigator from the medical examiner's office told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution "his cause of death: gunshot wounds of the back." He was shot by Atlanta police.

Attorneys announced Monday that Perry will take care of funeral expenses for Brooks. People magazine reported the media mogul also offered to pay for the college educations of Brooks' four children.
A source told People magazine that Perry “spoke to Rayshard's family and wanted to do something to help.
“His heart goes out to the family during this tragic time,” the source added.
According to a GoFundMe set up by Brooks' family's legal team, Brooks leaves behind a wife, Tomika Miller, and four children: 13-year-old Mekai, 8-year-old Blessing, 2-year-old Memory and 1-year-old Dream.

“Funds raised will go to his wife and kids,” the GoFundMe stated.
While Perry hasn't publicly acknowledged his offers for Brooks' family, he recently spoke out about an incident that he said "made me just as outraged" as the video of George Floyd, who died after a police officer pinned him for several minutes with his knee in Minneapolis.
“This story made me just as outraged as the George Floyd video and yet, nothing’s ever been done about it,” Perry wrote on Instagram Saturday of Terrance Williams, a man who has been missing in Naples, Florida since 2004. “I’ve been fighting and standing with Marcia to get justice for Terrance for 7 years now. It’s so sad that one horrible murder will push the last murder out of the news cycle when all of them point to a collective problem. All black lives matter. All these cases matter. And now Rayshard Brooks in the city that I call home.”
