After 40 years, Burger King brings back the Yumbo

The Yumbo was introduced in 1968 by Burger King and lasted eight years on the menu.

The large ham-and cheese was a favorite of many who grumbled when it went away. Fueled by requests from those who missed it, the company will bring the sandwich back on a limited-time basis.

The decision was "100% driven by the passion of our guests," North America Chief marketing officer Eric Hirschhorn told Business Insider. "It got to point where it's one of those things we can no longer ignore," he added.

Bloomberg says the nostalgia will continue when the King rolls the new/old offering out. Instead of websites or Facebook "Likes" fans will need to call 1-844-BK-YUMBO to profess their love for the sandwich.

While there is a lot of history in the offering, some things will change. This time the black forest ham and American cheese will be joined by lettuce and mayonnaise on a hoagie bun.

You can get your Yumbo for $3.69 or as part of the BK two for $5 menu.
