Sheryl Suzanne Crow was born Feb. 11, 1962, in Kennett, Mo. Her parents had both performed in swing orchestras, her father on trumpet and her mother as a singer; her mother also taught piano and insisted that all her daughters learn the instrument.

Sheryl Crow wrote her first song at age 13, and majored in music at the University of Missouri, where she also played keyboards in a cover band called Cashmere. After graduating, she spent a couple of years in St. Louis working as a music teacher for autistic children.

Before Atlantan Peter Stroud became Sheryl's lead guitarist, he played for the Indigo Girls.

Nine-time Grammy winner Sheryl Crow's first big break came when she became a backup singer on Michael Jackson's international Bad tour, where she stayed for two years.

Sheryl Crow performs 'Out Of Our Heads' from her recent release, Detours. She wrote and performed the title theme to the James Bond film 'Tomorrow Never Dies.'

Another Atlanta native, Tim Smith, plays bass in Sheryl's band.

Sheryl Crow was a big winner at the Grammys in early 1995, taking home honors for Best New Artist, Best Female Rock Vocal, and Record of the Year (the latter two for 'All I Wanna Do'). Her surprising sweep pushed her debut album, 'Tuesday Night Music Club,' past the seven million mark in sales.

Singer-songwriter-guitarist Matt White is a native of Wisconsin and records for Geffen Records.

Sheryl Crow met cycling great Lance Armstrong at a cycling event in October of 2003. They began dating shortly thereafter and announced their engagement in September 2005. Nearly five months later, however, they announced their break-up in a joint statement.
