The Georgia Music Hall of Fame board rejected a proposal Wednesday that would have kept the museum in Macon.
Macon is one of four cities bidding to host the museum, but the vote may be a setback for the city, the Macon Telegraph reported. A final vote was deferred until a later time.
The cities of Dunwoody, Woodstock and Athens also would like to be home to the hall. Last year, the state decided it would no longer subsidize about half of the 15-year-old hall’s annual operating costs, and the bidding process began.
State funding will cease on June 30.
