In an interview on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Wednesday, leading man Michael B. Jordan announced that he is no longer rooming with his parents.

The 32-year-old, who stars in the upcoming film “Just Mercy,” had previously conjured furrowed brows when he revealed he lived in a California home with his parents. Many were surprised by the revelation due to the blockbuster actor being in his 30s and his box office success. Jordan starred as Killmonger in the record-breaking film “Black Panther,” which grossed more than $400 million worldwide in its first weekend.

Others found his living arrangements as a sign of the star’s humility. According to Realtor.com, he purchased the 4,672-square-foot home for family in 2015 for $1.5 million. His mom, Donna Jordan, and her exceptional cooking were some of the major perks to staying with his parents.

“The best part of living with my family I want to say [is] home-cooked meals,” Jordan told Us Weekly in a November 2018 interview. “I think being able to come home and have my mom be able to cook some home-cooked food is pretty cool.”

On Wednesday, he proclaimed despite the benefits, he now lives on his own.

“It happened!" Michael exclaimed. “It’s good. It’s nice. I’m pretty sure they saged the entire house when I left. Like, they lit incense and bleached it down and got rid of all of me and then I got a place.”

Though they’re not under one roof, Jordan told DeGeneres the bond is still tight. He lives just 20 minutes from his parents.

“Mom and Dad, they cook. I'm close enough that, yeah, we can get there. But I'm still, like, 20 minutes away, which is good.”
