ROCK HILL, S.C. - A Christian-themed movie being filmed next month in Rock Hill will feature local sites, local extras and Jessica Lynch, a former soldier who was kidnapped in 2003 while on duty in Iraq.
JC Films, the movie’s producer, bills the “One Church” movie as a “political thriller” that focuses on a Christian family on a religious revolution. A group of local churches called “Rock Hill One” is helping the filmmakers.
In February, actor Erik Estrada visited Rock Hill to promote the film, but he will not appear in it, officials told The Herald this week. Instead, Lynch, 31, will star in the movie, according to JC Films.
At 19, Lynch was a prisoner of war for nearly a week after her military convoy was ambushed during the war in Iraq. Five other soldiers also were taken during the Iraqi ambush.
Estrada and JC Films have produced three faith-based films already. Rock Hill is the latest location for the movie company.
“One Church” also will feature actors such as Brandy Allison of “Virtuous,” Angelita Nelson of “Courageous” and Vanessa Ore of “My Name is Paul.”
The production will include more than 20 locations in and around Rock Hill, including the Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home and nearby cemetery, Luke’s Sports Bar and Grill, and the York County Detention Center.
Producers say the movie will explore a potential threat of the U.S. government overtaking churches. The movie will be filmed over a three-week period.
