"Captain America: Civil War" has ripped up the box office bringing in $181.8 million in North American ticket sales, and more than $496.6 million worldwide, The New York Times reported.
It was the fifth-highest opening in U.S. movie history, Fox News reported.
The latest "Captain America" installment, which is the 13th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sets up the next wave of MCU storytelling.
It either introduces the next generation of characters, like Black Panther, or furthers the story of heroes like Ant-Man.
And while the fight scenes can be awe-inspiring, watching them without CGI effects being added can make the movie look downright comical.
A video of behind-the-scenes shots has made its way to YouTube and is going viral, with more than one million views in the nine days since uploading.
More Marvel movies are either just about ready for release or in the production process and will be premiered to film fans through 2019.
"Doctor Strange" starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the title character will hit big screens on Nov. 4.
Next year, fans will see "Guardians of the Galaxy 2," "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Thor: Ragnarok"
In 2018, you'll be able to see "Avengers: Infinty War, Part 1," "Black Panther," "Ant-Man and the Wasp" and "Captain Marvel."
Finally, May 3 2019, will be the end of the MCU with "Avengers: Infinity War, Part 2."
