Who got shut out at the 83rd Academy Awards nominations announcement.

Christopher Nolan's film "Inception" received multiple Oscar nominations, but Nolan was shut out of the directing category. He did receive a nomination for best original screenplay.

Mila Kunis received a lot of buzz for her wicked role in "Black Swan" opposite Natalie Portman but she was not nominated for best supporting actress.

Mark Wahlberg might take getting shut out of the best actor category personally. "The Fighter" received multiple acting nominations, including Christian Bale, seen here on the left, getting a nod for best supporting actor.

'The Kids are All Right' features Annette Bening, left, and Julianne Moore as lesbian mothers.

Andrew Garfield impressed critics for his integral role in "The Social Network," but was snubbed in the supporting actor category.

Barbara Hershey wowed critics with the role she played as the overprotective mother in "Black Swan" but she was overlooked when it came to supporting actress nominations.

Many critics claim Ryan Gosling's lead performance in "Blue Valentine" was one of the best of 2010. While co-star Michelle Williams was given a best actress nod, Gosling was shut out of the best actor category.

Robert Duvall was recently honored for his 50 years in show business, but he was shut out of the best actor category for his performance in "Get Low."

No one is suggesting "Burlesque" was one of the best films of 2010, but many thought it would at least get a nod in one of the music categories.

While the 10 best picture nominations were fairly predictable, one movie that had plenty of hype but missed the cut was "The Town." The bank-robber drama, directed by past Oscar winner Ben Affleck who also stars in the film, did receive a nomination for best supporting actor for Jeremy Renner's performance.
