Legendary singer and actress Lena Horne dies at 92.

Legendary singer and actress Lena Horne died Sunday, May 9, 2010, at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, according to hospital spokeswoman Gloria Chin.

The prestigious Ella Award is named after the legendary Ella Fitzgerald and was given to Horne to recognize her outstanding musical achievements and unwavering dedication to civic causes. As she prepared for two performances at New York's Carnegie Hall, Lena Horne, then 77, said she was really surprised that people still wanted to hear her sing.
