After a 49-year run on the Las Vegas Strip, "Les Folies Bergere" topless revue at the Tropicana hotel-casino is hanging up its feathers and closing.

After a 49-year run on the Las Vegas Strip, "Les Folies Bergere" topless revue at the Tropicana hotel-casino hung up its feathers on March 28.

"Les Folies Bergere" showgirls perform on stage in 1972 at the Tropicana. Tropicana executives say that the closing of "Les Folies" will make room for an undisclosed new production.

Showgirls perform one of their acts during a dress rehearsal for the 1997 edition of "The Best of the Folies Bergere...Sexier Than Ever." In recent years, showgirl productions have fallen out of favor on the Strip.

"Folies" came from Paris in 1959 and opened under then-Tropicana entertainment director Lou Walters. The closing of the show will leave Bally's "Jubilee!" as the last full-scale showgirl revue left on the Las Vegas Strip.
