Rapidly expanding through the Southeast, Your Pie is the brainchild of Drew French, a Milton High and University of Georgia grad who developed the personal-size pizza franchise concept after traveling through Italy on his honeymoon.

Before opening his first Your Pie in Athens in 2008, French worked for several other franchise companies, including Great Wraps and Planet Smoothie. Roswell is the first Atlanta area Your Pie, with locations in Alpharetta and Marietta in the works.

The look: Situated in a brick storefront in the Roswell Crossing Shopping Center on West Crossville Road, the contemporary fast casual build-out features bright colors, brick accents and flat screen TVs. Order at the counter and grab a seat at a table or a stool at the long bar.

The scene: On a recent afternoon, a large group of students gathered at a banquet-style table, feasting on pizza and soft drinks. Several couples found their way to one of the cozy booths in back. At the bar, a friendly young server offered an enthusiastic rundown of the current beer list.

The menu: The Your Pie motto — "Express your inner pizza" — is displayed in an array of some 50 free and premium ($1) toppings. The hand-tossed, brick oven-baked pies come with white, wheat or gluten-free crust and a choice of eight sauces, including sun-dried tomato-basil and spicy Thai. Or choose a combo from the "favorites" list, such as "The Nat" ($8.50), with fresh pesto sauce, grilled chicken, feta cheese and spinach.

The drinks: Your Pie shows its college town roots with eight draft beers priced at $2-$5 a pint, including craft offerings such as Smuttynose Old Brown Dog and Bell's Amber, plus a selection of 15 bottled beers. There's a short list of wines by the glass ($6) or the bottle ($18).

The extras: Beyond pizza, there are oven-baked calzones and panini, bread bowl salads and gelato. Look for specials every week. Mondays, kids eat free. Tuesdays, it's $5.55 pizza and a drink. Wednesdays, trivia night and beer specials. Thursdays,  student special, $7.50 pizza, drink and small gelato.
