As a writer around Atlanta, working from home can be a total luxury. It can also make you crazy when you're staring at a screen all day and you only have your dog to talk to (sorry Brogie!). Coffee shops aren't just for lattes anymore, they're hubs for business meet ups and laptop camping. When I need strong wifi, bold caffeine and human contact, these are my absolute favorites.
San Francisco Coffee
The Amsterdam and North Highland in Virginia Highland location is my go-to because the baristas are friendly and knowledgeable. The beans are roasted at this location, which is a plus for freshness. You really get a sense of community here. I think they have the best iced coffee in town. The locations in Candler Park and Poncey-Highland are also terrific.
Java Vino
This is a funky house on North Highland in Poncey-Highland that serves quality coffee and all kinds of wine. If you choose to have a nice rosé over a cup of java, they've got you covered. It's also a great place to hang before or after going to a meal. The owners live here so it's an extra homey experience.
Octane Coffee
The West Midtown and Grant Park locations are completely different. I favor Grant Park because of the Little Tart Bakery attached. You may get a little barista attitude at Octane but I don't mind, the drinks are top notch. The West Side location is a scene full of business and artsy types clicking away at Macbook Airs.
Dancing Goats/Batdorf and Bronson Coffee
Batdorf and Bronson coffee is served at fine restaurants all over the city and these are its coffee shops. It's locally roasted and its blends are some of the best in the country. I love their screened-in patio focused on an outdoor city vibe. If you really want to get a feel for the Decatur scene, hit Dancing Goats on a Saturday morning. The Ponce City Market location was the first business attached to the complex.
Corso Coffee
A European, slick feel is what this place is all about. The shop also serves lunch and delicious pastries with a full bar. If you're shopping in Buckhead, this is a great place to enjoy a cappuccino. And you never know who you'll run into at Corso.
Proof Bakeshop
This Inman Park spot just opened right next to One Eared Stag. If you have a business lunch here, hang out at the communal table beforehand. It's a great way to make friends with other freelancers and enjoy fresh their superb baked goods.
