Variety reported that the deal includes one Netflix original special and two projects from Chappelle's archives. Those two specials will be released at the same time in 2017.

The new original special has not release date as of yet.

"Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy -- searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential," Lisa Nishimura, Netflix's VP of original documentary and comedy said. "Dave's three new specials promise to be some of the most anticipated events in comedy."

Chappelle was widely praised for his performance as host of "SNL" on NBC Nov. 12.

During his stint, he revived old characters from his Comedy Central show, "Chappelle's Show," and skewered the election in some skits. His opening monologue concluded with Chappelle saying, "I'm wishing Donald Trump luck. And I'm going to give him a chance, and we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one, too."

News of Chappelle's specials come a month after the online streaming giant announced a similar deal with comedian Chris Rock.
