Salma Hayek loves animals, and her Instagram account is full of great videos of her hugging an alpaca, sweet-talking chickens as she collects eggs and EATING AN INSECT.

“These are crickets from Mexico, from Oaxaca,” Hayek says as she chomps down on the crunchy treat.

The insects are actually grasshoppers called a chapulines and are a favorite snack in southern Mexico.

The Lonely Planet ranks chapulines among the 10 "tastiest insects and bugs in Mexico."
