ATLANTA'S CLUB SCENE has changed quite a bit over the past few years, with new places popping up on a regular basis and established hot spots moving to the suburbs or permanently shutting their doors. One of the few constants has been Halo, which celebrates its seventh anniversary this weekend.

Located in the basement of the historic Biltmore Hotel, Halo's atmosphere is somewhere between the chic upscale atmosphere of the typical Midtown club and the more laid-back vibe of a casual lounge. The somewhat futuristic, Euro-inspired decor gives it a high-end look, but the lack of a VIP room, velvet ropes and dress code provides a more welcoming quality (as does the cover charge, which is usually free and never more than $5).

The Aug. 15 anniversary party will be an equally open affair with complimentary admission before 11 p.m., and Van Gogh Vodka specials and free hors d'oeuvres from 8 to 10 p.m.

Halo regular Ursula 1000, who recently released "Undressed," will perform a headlining set. This New York DJ and producer, known for his retro lounge-y mixes and eclectic disco sounds, was one of the first guest DJs to spin at Halo and has continued to perform there on a regular basis despite being in demand around the world for fashion shows and club nights.

Also performing will be Atlanta's Dames Aflame burlesque troupe, which appeared in the video for "Boop" from Ursula's 2006 album, "Here Comes Tomorrow." Friday night resident Chris Grass and Wednesday night regular Dr. Katz will also spin house, hip-hop and tribal grooves during the event.

> THE 411: Halo Lounge seventh anniversary party. $5; free before 11 p.m. Aug. 15. Halo, 817 W. Peachtree St., Suite E-100, Midtown. 404-962-7333, www.halolounge.com.
