Election night events in Atlanta
Amid the rancor of the waning campaign season, surely the Democratic Party, Republican Party and Libertarian Party all could use a good party.
So as a public service to our fellow Americans, we offer a simple, one-point platform: We're here to help you find somewhere fun to be to on election night Tuesday.
Hyatt Regency

This will be results-watching central for the Democratic Party of Georgia.
InterContinental Hotel
3315 Peachtree Road N.E., Atlanta
U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss and U.S. Rep. Tom Price have reserved ballrooms that night, so it's a good bet that'll be a gathering place for lots of Peach State Republicans.
The Mansour Center
995 Roswell St. N.E., Marietta
Libertarian candidate Bob Barr will watch results with supporters. Party begins at 7:30 p.m.; Barr is scheduled to speak about 9:30 p.m.

A nonpartisan election night party begins at 7 p.m. The night features live music, hors d'oeuvres (and a full menu by order), cash bar and lots of politics. "We're encouraging individuals to come from the polls," party promoter Christopher Thomas said. A slew of artists will perform country, pop, R&B and hip-hop, he said. Celeb guests scheduled to attend include Cee-Lo Green and Q. Parker of 112. Thomas, 33, said he's expecting a young and enthusiastic crowd, in keeping with what he's seen during this campaign season. "We work with young people all the time, as some of our clients target teenagers or college students," he said. "I've never seen this much college-level involvement [in politics]."

Decatur Holiday Inn

The DeKalb Democratic Party is hosting an election night celebration in the ballroom. Doors will open at 7 p.m., and the celebration will continue until midnight. This is a free event, but people are asked to reserve tickets in advance by e-mailing electionnighttickets08@gmail.com. Up to two tickets will be reserved at "will call." Tickets also may be picked up in person at the DeKalb Obama headquarters, 2752 E. Ponce de Leon Ave., 4153 Flat Shoals Parkway, Building A. The event will feature a wide variety of live performances, including Grammy-winning poet Hank Stewart, and karaoke DJ Matthew Sease.
Fox Sports Grill and Ten Pin Alley
Atlantic Station
Georgia Young Professionals for Change, a grassroots Obama organization, expects about 1,400 people at Atlantic Station for a "Yes We Did" Celebration. Parking at Atlantic Station or a free shuttle from the MARTA Art Station, starting about 6:30 p.m. and running until 1 a.m. The event will go until 2 a.m. More about the event.

The Crash Test Comedy Company plans an elections-themed show beginning at 8 p.m. "We thought of putting together a fun night of laughter where everyone is welcome regardless of who they are voting for in the election," organizer Cris Gray said. "Everyone loves to laugh, and together we will while we wait to see the results of 'America's Next Top President.'"
