Da Brat, , whose real name is Shawntae Harris, was arrested after fight at a club in Tucker

Atlanta-based rapper Da Brat was sentenced to 3 years in jail by a DeKalb County judge on Aug. 22, 2008.

She struck a woman with a rum bottle in October 2007 at Studio 72, an Atlanta club owned by Jermaine Dupri, Da Brat's longtime producer/label boss. Here they celebrate the release of her 'Limelite, Luv & Niteclubz.'

It's not the first time the rapper, seen here before a 2000 performance, in Miami, has been in trouble with the law in the Metro Atlanta area.

In 2000 Da Brat, who was born Shawntae Harris, faced charges that she beat a woman with a gun during a dispute over VIP seating in a Buckhead nightclub. Rolling Stone reported that she pleaded guilty to a reduced charge and was sentenced to probation, community service and a fine.

Da Brat takes the stage at Screamfest 2007 at Philips Arena this past August.
