Admission to the auction was $25 per couple, with a complimentary book on Dean Gardens. Tyler Perry is an actor and movie and TV producer/director.

Bidders tour the house. Auction items include fine furnishings and architectural elements such as stained glass windows, bronze stairs, exotic marble columns, doors and fireplaces.

Dean Gardens is an eye-catching 32,000-square-foot mansion located in north Fulton County. It was once known as the biggest house in Atlanta, and took more than four years to build. After 15 years on the market, the estate has finally been sold.

Steve White of Four Seasons Auction Gallery starts the live auction at Dean Gardens on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010. Perry bought the property for $7.6 million in late July and will demolish it.

Bidders look around Dean Gardens. The property is a 58-acre estate on Old Alabama Road in Johns Creek.

Sculptures and modern art were among items to be auctioned. Dean Gardens was originally built as the dream home of Larry Dean and his former wife, Lynda, but they separated not long after construction was completed.

Collectibles, bookcases, tables and chairs were among the auction items.
