When the weather calls for it, or when you just feel like venturing out for a new cultural experience, there are several metro Atlanta museums and attractions to keep you entertained.

Here are museums and attractions in the metro area that offer free visits.
Fernbank Science Center : noon to 5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday; noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday. 156 Heaton Park Drive, Atlanta.
The King Center: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Sunday. 449 Auburn Ave. NE, Atlanta.
David J. Sencer CDC Museum: 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday; Thursdays 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. 1600 Clifton Road NE, Atlanta.
Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking: Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. 500 10th St. NW, Atlanta.
Georgia Capital Museum and Tour: Self-guided tours: Mon.-Fri. 8 a.m.-5 p.m. No reservations required for self-guided tours. Guided tours are only available for groups of 10 to 60 and reservations are required. The schedule varies depending on the time of year but tours generally are in the morning Monday- Friday. 206 State Capitol, Atlanta.

Most Georgia state parks don’t have an entrance fee but do charge a $5 parking fee including these four near Atlanta:
Sweetwater Creek State Park : 7 a.m. to sunset Monday-Sunday. 1750 Mt. Vernon Road, Lithia Springs.
Panola Mountain State Park: 7 a.m. to sunset Monday-Sunday. 2620 Highway 155 SW, Stockbridge.
Hard Labor Creek State Park : 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. Monday-Sunday. 5 Hard Labor Creek Road, Rutledge.
Red Top Mountain State Park: 7 a.m. to sunset Monday-Sunday . 50 Lodge Road SE, Acworth.
Historic Oakland Cemetery: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday- Friday; 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday except 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. during winter months. 248 Oakland Ave. SE, Atlanta. Located in Atlanta’s Old 4th Ward, admission to the cemetery is free but tour maps are $5.
