Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger and journalist/Kennedy family scion Maria Shriver announced their separation after 25 years of marriage. We're rooting for them to work it out, but in the meantime let's take a look back at some happier times.

The duo hit the red carpet for the Acadamy Awards on April 9, 1984 in Los Angeles.

Schwarzenegger and Shriver married on April 25, 1986 in Hyannis, Mass., the site of the Kennedy Family compound. They were introduced by newscaster Tom Brokaw in 1977 at a charity tennis match.

Shriver and Schwarzenegger shopped in Itaewon, the famous shopping street in Seoul on Sept. 27, 1988. They were in town for the Summer Olympics.

Shriver looks on as Shwarenegger shows off his new U.S. citizenship papers on Sept. 16, 1983 at the Shrine Auditorium in Hollywood, Calif. Schwarzenegger had starred in his breakthrough role as Conan the Barbarian the year before.

The pair posed with Jane Fonda at the opening of the movie "Old Gringo" in New York, Oct. 5, 1989. During that time, Shriver was a Sunday anchor for NBC Nightly News and a contributing anchor on Dateline NBC.

Schwarzenegger and Shriver celebrated at the Century Plaza Hotel in Century City, Calif. on October 7, 2003. Schwarzenegger had just been elected to his first term as California governor.

Shriver and Schwarzenegger stepped out with daughter Katherine and Shriver's mother Eunice on July 15, 1990 at the Kennedy Family compound in Hyannis, Mass. That same year, two of Schwarzenegger's biggest films were released: "Kindergarten Cop" and "Total Recall."

The pair attended the 62nd Annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Jan. 16, 2005. Though their lives took a decidedly more political turn in future years, the couple have always maintained their Hollywood ties.

Schwarzenegger and Shriver celebrated during his victory party in Beverly Hills, Calif., Nov. 7, 2006 after Schwarzenegger coasted to a second term as California's governor.

The two were all smiles at the June 24, 2006 premiere of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif.

The photogenic couple appeared in an ad in 2008 promoting California's wine and food offerings.

Schwarzenegger showed his support at a wake for Eunice Kennedy Shriver, at Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church in Barnstable, Mass. on Aug. 13, 2009.

Fully entrenched in political life, the couple Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife Maria Shriver arrived at the White House to attend a dinner hosted by President Obama Feb. 22, 2009 in Washington.

Schwarzenegger and Shriver attended the NBA All-Star basketball game on Feb. 14, 2010 at Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas with their daughter, Christina and son, Patrick. The couple are also parents to Katherine and Christopher.
