Women’s accessories and apparel brand Tory Burch plans to open a new distribution center in metro Atlanta to support its e-commerce division, according to a state news release.
The company and Gov. Nathan Deal’s office said Thursday the new warehousing operation in Henry County will include more than 150 jobs by 2020. The project is expected to open by the end of next year.
Metro Atlanta is a key player in the warehousing and logistics sectors, with companies leveraging the region’s proximity to the Savannah and Brunswick ports, its interstate and rail networks and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
E-commerce distribution or fulfillment centers have become a growing segment in the metro Atlanta warehousing industry with the growing popularity of online shopping. Georgia boasts similar facilities by Amazon, Williams-Sonoma and other top retailers.
“Tory Burch’s decision to grow its business in Georgia is a reflection of our state providing industry leaders with the best resources to compete worldwide,” Deal said in the news release. “I have no doubt that our top-ranked business climate and cutting-edge technological capabilities will continue to attract top lifestyle brands like Tory Burch.”
The release said Tory Burch expects to spend $60 million in the new facility in the Lambert Farms Logistics Park in McDonough. The 183-acre site, developed by Panattoni Development and MetLife, is among a wave of new logistics centers developed in recent years capitalizing on the demand for new distribution space.
Real estate services firm JLL represented Panattoni in the deal.
New York-based Tory Burch has 180 stores worldwide, the company said, and nine e-commerce sites in multiple languages.
“We are pleased to be creating a new distribution center in Georgia,” said Roger Farah, co-CEO of Tory Burch. “It will benefit our customers and our company as we continue to build our e-commerce business while also creating jobs at an important time for our country’s economy.”
