Atlanta-based SunTrust Banks has been experiencing major system problems that have prevented customers from conducting transactions, many have complained on Twitter.

Efforts are being made to get more information from the bank on the outage. SunTrust said its technical support teams were “working hard.”

In tweeted responses, SunTrust acknowledged “we’re experiencing technical issues & are working on a solution. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.”

Customers have taken to Twitter to vent. One tweet said online access and phone lines have not been working “for over 10 hours.”

Another tweeted to @AskSunTrust “Extreme hot mess! I’m still wondering how my bills will be paid today!”

Said another: “It’s the 1st of the month and online banking has been down for hours for scheduled maintenance. Perfect timing.”
