SunTrust leadership shuffle continues

SunTrust Bank reshuffled more of its senior leadership team late Monday, following last week’s announcement that Chairman and Chief Executive James Wells III would retire.

Atlanta-based SunTrust said Mark Chancy, the company’s chief financial officer, has been appointed the bank’s wholesale banking executive, a newly-created job. Chancy will oversee divisions such as corporate and investment banking, commercial bankingand the company’s GenSpring Family Offices and RidgeWorth Investments subsidiaries.

Aleem Gillani, the bank’s corporate treasurer, will replace Chancy as CFO, a role that oversees corporate finance functions like investor relations and treasury. He will remain treasurer until a replacement is determined.

Last week, Wells announced his retirement as CEO effective June 1. He will retire as chairman Dec. 31.

William Rogers Jr., SunTrust president and chief operations officer, will succeed Wells as CEO and retain the title of president.
