Seattle-based department store Nordstrom Inc. will open its second Georgia outpost of Nordstrom Rack in Buckhead Station in 2010.

The company is still expanding at a rapid clip, with 28 stores planned in the next three years. Sixteen will be the off-price Nordstrom Rack, which sells handbags, shoes and clothing at lower prices than the department store.

The new Nordstrom Rack will be just blocks from a Nordstrom department store at Phipps Plaza, one of three in the state.

"Our best Racks are located near our Nordstrom stores," said Nordstrom spokeswoman Lara Bain. Nordstrom isn't currently planning further expansion in Georgia, she said.

The Buckhead Station shopping center is owned by Equity One, a Miami-based real estate investment trust. Other tenants include Old Navy, TJMaxx, DSW, Bed Bath & Beyond, Ulta3 and Toys R Us. Nordstrom Rack will fill 38,000 square feet of upstairs space.
