A California bottled water company said Thursday it is planning a new packaging and distribution plant in Coweta County where it will create about 40 jobs.

Niagara Bottling, described as the country’s largest bottler of private label water, will invest $52 million in the new plant, according to the state Department of Economic Development. The 450,000-square-foot project is expected to open later this year.

State officials said Niagara has 18 facilities across the country. The family-owned firm bottles and ships water to grocers, convenience stores and wholesalers.
