Delta Air Lines will suspend its Atlanta-Moscow and Atlanta-Tel Aviv routes for the winter as it adjusts to high fuel costs and declines in demand by cutting flight capacity.

Atlanta-based Delta plans to suspend its Atlanta-Moscow route Sept. 1 and its Atlanta-Tel Aviv route Oct. 29. The airline plans to resume both routes by next summer.

Delta will also suspend several other routes for the winter, including flights from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport to Berlin, Stockholm, Manchester and Copenhagen, and from Philadelphia to Paris. Those suspensions take effect in early September.

The moves are part of Delta's plan to cut trans-Atlantic flight capacity by 10 percent to 12 percent later this year, as it announced last month.
