Delta Air Lines will close its Atlanta satellite base for Northwest flight attendants on May 1, as Delta flight attendants complete training for Northwest aircraft and vice versa.

Atlanta-based Delta opened the satellite base as part of its merger with Northwest, for its flights operated with Northwest aircraft and crews out of Atlanta. The roughly 200 Northwest flight attendants at the Atlanta satellite base will return to their home bases.

The flight attendant training on merger partner aircraft is scheduled to be complete by April. Delta closed the deal with Northwest in 2008 and got its single operating certificate for the merger in December 2009 from the Federal Aviation Administration.
