Atlanta-based Delta said it plans to launch flights from Atlanta to Medellin and Cartagena in Colombia later this year, part of a Latin America expansion.

The new routes are subject to government approval. Pending approval, Delta expects to start the daily flights to Medellin and the thrice-weekly flights to Cartagena Dec. 19. The flights would be operated with Boeing 737-700 and 737-800 planes.

Delta already flies to Bogota from Atlanta and New York.
