Body of newborn found in woods in Dawson County

The Dawson County sheriff said a newborn's body was found in the woods on Friday, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Dawson County Sheriff Jeff Johnson said a 911 call reported the body found in a wooded area behind a home off Thompson Road in the county, according to the report. The homeowner discovered the body of the baby, who officials said they believe was 1 to 2 weeks old.

At least two people are being questioned about the case, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting local investigators, Channel 2 reported.
