Kyle Chrisley a few weeks back claimed his father Todd was a "snake" and "stole" his daughter Chloe away from him for the Atlanta-based USA reality show "Chrisley Knows Best," which airs its newest episode tonight.

But the mother Angela Johnson, now estranged from Kyle, told RadarOnline that Todd and his wife Julie are far more honorable than Kyle.

“I know Todd is not using Chloe just for that TV show,” she said. “If it wasn’t for Todd, me and Kyle and Chloe would have been on the side of the interstate! Todd and Julie stepped in to help me with Chloe, because Kyle would not do it.”

Kyle was on season one of the show but was booted after allegedly assaulting Johnson in February.

According to the cops, Kyle struck in Johnson in the face after she confronted him about staying out too late. He then threatened Johnson's sister with a knife.

Todd told Ryan Seacrest that Kyle is bi-polar. "When you have a child that deals with that, today I'm your best friend, tomorrow, you don't know who I am.. As a family, it's our job is to continue to love him and pull him through." He said Kyle was not taking meds and that's why he is off the show. He said he'd be welcome back on if "he got his stuff together."

He implied that Kyle was not kind to the crew during season one. "If you can't be courteous and kind, you can't play," he said.

On the show, Todd has talked about Kyle's drug issues and their efforts to put him through rehab. Kyle has insisted in a RadarOnline interview in October that he was clean.
