Porsche Foxx starting Monday, December 11 will take over mornings on R&B station Mix 87.7, replacing syndicated host Russ Parr, who had been there briefly when the station was called Old School 87.7.
Her show will air from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m..
Foxx joined 87.7 in the summer of 2016 not long after its debut as the afternoon host and face of the station following an eight-year absence from the airwaves.
"I always love a challenge," Foxx said today. "This is a progressive city full of women like myself whoa re spontaneous and active and love lifestyle things. Some have families. It's just a great opportunity to speak to more people like myself in Atlanta."
And she emphasized the fact the show will be local. "I've said this going back to 1998, this is black Hollywood," she said. While she enjoys talking to celebrities, "the real stars are the people who listen to me. I love to talk to them. My listeners are my real stars."
Foxx was a hugely popular afternoon host on V-103 for many years but drinking issues plagued her. A DUI led to her first departure in 2005. The station hired her again in 2007 but let her go without explanation in 2008.
