Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth was such a memorably polarizing presence on "The Apprentice" six years ago that she has somehow kept herself in the spotlight simply being Omarosa.
Now, seemingly belatedly, she is getting her own dating show, thanks to network TV One and Donald Trump. “Donald Trump Presents The Ultimate Merger” debuts June 17 at 9 p.m. featuring a dozen men vying for Omarosa’s affection in Las Vegas.
Do you want to see Omarosa again on a reality show?
- Yes! She's a total guilty pleasure
- No way! Enough is enough!
Two of those men come from metro Atlanta: 33-year-old R&B singer Ray Lavender (top left, with Omarosa) and 34-year-old record label owner Javis Dortch. On the first episode, Lavender had the lowest "compatibility" score on a written test but crooned a song to her that warmed her hearts. Javis came across better, charming and intriguing her. He also ranked among the top 3 in compatibility. But she was taken aback by him having a one year old and a 14 year old.
Neither man knew ahead of time who the woman was going to be until she arrived in a sexy turquoise dress. Lavender didn’t have a clue who she was even after he saw her. Later, he heard from the other guys that she was the “bitch” on “The Apprentice.”
And no, he did not think of her that way at all. “She was a princess around me,” Lavender said. “Every time I was round, she was putty.”
He did see her “bitch side” with other guys but at the same time, he said she seemed turned on by men being overly aggressive and in her face.
Unfortunately, Lavender said he was “not built like that. I”m aggressive but not argumentative. I thought at first I was not right for this competition.”
He eye-balled one competitor he recognized immediately: singer Al B. Sure. "I didn't think I had a chance," he said. In the end, they became buds.
Lavender, a graduate of Campbell High School in Smyrna, has worked with R. Kelly, Akon and T-Pain, according to his bio, though I don't see any evidence he's had any major hits. Here's a little video of him:
Douglasville's Javis Dortch, 34, runs JMD Media Group which includes a publishing company, marketing firm and a record label. He said he also runs a moving and storage firm.
He has a cousin who’s a publicist who suggested he try out for the dating show and he figured, “Why not?” “I’m seriously looking for a woman,” he said. “She has qualities I was looking for.”
He, like Ray, said only nice things about Omarosa. “She’s the complete lady,” Javis raved. “Very soft. She didn’t come across as the way the media had portrayed her. [He didn't see "The Apprentice"!]”
Javis admits he got into some verbal disputes with the other men. But overall, he had a great time. He said the food, the staff, the Trump Tower hotel rooms were all great. “We were definitely able to experience a Vegas most never do,” he said, including meeting tons of celebrities he wouldn’t name.
He promises Omarosa “found love.” Heck, it could be him. Lucky guy!
