The first confirmed TV pilot from the 2014-15 broadcast season to be shot in metro Atlanta will be NBC's 'Constantine," based on the “Hellblazer” comic book series.

A spokeswoman for the Georgia film and TV office confirmed the news today.

This could potentially be the first NBC series to be shot in Atlanta since the state seasoned tax credits in 2008. (The pilot to NBC's "Revolution" was shot here but moved first to Wilmington, N.C., then Texas, for the series itself.)

The descriptive for the series sounds like something that could end up on Friday night where "Grimm" resides:

Constantine centers on John Constantine, an enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending us against dark forces from beyond.

Here's how another blogger describes Constantine: "The character is a British magician who works in the supernatural aspects of the DC Universe and quite often interacts with the agents of Heaven and Hell. He is very much an anti-hero and a cynic, but ultimately wants to save humanity."

The pilot is currently in pre-production. Casting for John Constantine or any other major character has not been finalized. I'll update this when I hear something.

"Constantine" was portrayed by Keanu Reeves in the 2005 film. (Only 46 percent of reviewers like the film, according to Rotten Tomatoes. It earned $75 million domestically and $230 million worldwide.)

Sci-fi bloggers were happy to hear the director is Neil Marshall ("The Descent," "Game of Thrones"). Bloggers have also fished out who the writing team is: David S. Goyer ("Man of Steel") and Daniel Cerone ("The Mentalist")

NBC has gone darker recently with shows such as "The Blacklist" and "Hannibal."
