The new Channel 2 Action News anchor Jorge Estevez will take over the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts alongside Jovita Moore starting Monday, January 13, 2020.

Justin Farmer will remain with Moore at the 6 p.m. newscast and join Wendy Corona during the 4 p.m. newscast.

Farmer, who joined WSB-TV in 2008 and effectively took over for legendary anchor John Pruitt, will also be covering stories including politics.

Estevez was officially introduced on air at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

As previously reported, Estevez comes from a sister Cox Media Group station in Orlando WFTV-TV, where he worked for 12 years over two stints. He has also worked in New York and Miami.

Estevez is active on social media with 21,800 followers on Instagram and 67,000 likes on FacebookHal Boedecker, who covers TV for the Orlando Sentinel, said Estevez was very popular in Orlando and was surprised he is leaving.

He is the station’s second Latino anchor. Corona joined the station in 2013.

Craig Lucie, who now has his own marketing and communications firm, left as a daily anchor last year.
