Inauguration Day: Georgians with an up-close view of Trump

Washington - Call it luck. Chalk it up to connections. However they landed them, a handful of Georgians scored tickets just a few feet from the stage where Donald Trump will soon be sworn in.

Austin Chambers, a Georgia Republican who worked on Sen. David Perdue's campaign, nabbed front-row tickets for his section with a gaggle of Missourians. He might have had some help: He just worked on Republican Eric Greitens' winning gubernatorial campaign.

"We showed up this morning and we were in awe of the seats we had," he said. "It's a fantastic day and we are excited to witness history."

Not very far behind him sat Sharyl Dawes, a Johns Creek education advocate and one-time candidate for school superintendent. She could hardly contain her excitement.

"I came here 16 years ago for the Bush inauguration. But it feels more awesome now. The crowd, the enthusiasm - it's amazing," she said. "I couldn't believe the warmth and the welcome we have experienced. I will tell people who don't like him: Give him a chance."
